FS25 Водяные буйволы + Интервью с нашим ведущим художником по персонажам
Do you like ungulates, ruminants? Great. We’re adding water buffalo to the farm animal cast. You’ve seen them in previous trailers and screenshots, but let’s take another look at one of the new animal types for Farming Simulator 25. We’ll also be chatting with Roman Pelipenko, our lead character artist. Check out the interview below. And don’t forget to pre-order!
Water buffaloes are strong but easy to care for.
- Water buffalos adapt to harsher conditions: Heat and humidity? No problem. That’s why they feel at home in Southeast Asia, for example. The perfect creatures to keep on our new Asian map! In many cultures, they are also important symbols of prosperity.
- These are high-performance lawn mowers : Animals that eat grass? Not so special. It’s incredible, but true: in Farming Simulator 25, your grass fields will be mown by grazing cattle. Not just buffalo.
- They are valuable milk producers: buffalo milk is particularly rich in fat, protein and minerals, making it ideal for dairy production. What you can do, too.
- They are sociable, gentle and intelligent: Despite their size and strength, buffalo are generally gentle and sociable animals. They form strong bonds with their herd and owners and often exhibit a calm and docile nature.
New products and production for mozzarella production!
Water buffaloes are primarily used for milk production. Of course, you can also keep them for breeding and sell them for profit when dairy production is not your thing.
But with buffalo milk and mozzarella in high demand, you may want to take the risk of supplying fresh milk to new production sites for processing.
Ba-Ba-Baby Buffalo
At 18 months, buffalo cows are mature. That’s when they start producing milk. And babies. They also start reproducing, and soon you’ll have tiny baby buffalos in your pastures. Look how cute they are!
When you buy them from a local farmer, you can get either fresh and cute buffalo or strong and powerful ones. She can also give you more information on how to properly handle the buffalo on your farm.
A conversation with Roman, Lead Character Artist
Roman, tell us about your creative process when creating a new animal. Where do you start? What are the main steps?
The process begins with creating a comprehensive list of references of real animals to study their anatomy, behavior, and movement patterns in detail. Once this research phase is complete, we move on to creating high-poly models using sculpting software such as ZBrush.
The next step is to prepare a low-poly model with accurate topology, preparing it for the texturing stage.
In Substance Painter, we bake the complex details from the high-poly model onto the low-poly version and begin painting textures. At this point, the model is complete, but the next step involves bringing it to life with animation.
What kind of research do you do before you start modeling an animal? What is important to keep in mind?
Before you start modeling an animal, it is important to find a good reference and have a good understanding of the animal’s anatomy. Since the sculpting is done by hand, it is easy to make small mistakes in such complex structures.
That’s why we do multiple iterations of verification at each stage. To ensure accuracy, we carefully examine every aspect, from bone structure and muscle alignment to even the smallest details, such as the pores on the nose.
What challenges do you face when animating animals, especially when it comes to creating realistic movements?
Animation is a complex process because it involves bringing a static model to life. The real challenge is to make sure that the character of the animal shines through in the animation, allowing viewers to feel its personality and natural movements.
How do you ensure that the animal interacts properly with other elements of the game, such as the environment or other animals?
The game has a system that ensures proper interaction between animals by keeping them in a certain space where they know each other’s location.
What aspect are you particularly proud of? What was unique or challenging about it?
I’m especially proud of the final integration of animals into the game. It’s incredibly satisfying to see them evolve from initial concepts into living creatures with their own unique personalities.
